I’m a mom of two, married to my high school sweetheart, and someone who wants my children to grow up curious about the world, excited to travel, and interested in cultures beyond their own.
I also love the simple magic of children receiving mail of their very own. There is something special about seeing their name on an envelope, watching them open it, and knowing it was sent especially for them.
I created Pen Pal Travels to bring those two ideas together. Each month, a bright red envelope introduces children to a new destination through a postcard, fun facts, a recipe or activity, a coloring page, and a postcard of their own to share.
The traveling pen pal is an imaginative story character created by Pen Pal Travels, not a real child or individual traveler. We keep the character unseen so children can picture the storyteller for themselves and wonder where the story will go next. Every subscriber receives the same featured destination and story each month.

What ages is Pen Pal Travels for?
Pen Pal Travels is designed for children ages 3–8. Younger children usually enjoy the mailing with a grown-up, while older children can read, color, and write more on their own. Recipes always require adult help and supervision.
Is the pen pal a real person?
No. The traveling pen pal is an imaginative story character created by Pen Pal Travels. Children are not matched with a child or traveler, and every subscriber receives the same featured destination story each month.
What comes in each mailing?
Every mailing includes a printed story postcard written in the voice of the traveling character, Fun Facts and Map, a recipe or activity, a coloring page, and a blank postcard to send to someone they love. Ingredients are not included, and recipes require adult help and supervision.
When will the first mailing arrive?
Join by the last day of the month to receive the next month’s mailing. Mailings are sent during the first week of the following month.
Can I send Pen Pal Travels as a gift?
Yes. You can send Pen Pal Travels to a child you love, and their name appears on every red envelope. Gift subscriptions renew automatically at the selected billing interval until canceled.
Does my subscription renew automatically?
Yes. Monthly, 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month plans all renew automatically at the same billing interval until canceled. We will email you before each renewal.
How do I cancel?
Visit Manage subscription to update your payment method, view invoices, or cancel your next renewal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid term, and you will continue receiving every mailing included in that payment. Payments already processed are non-refundable.
